What is Kiwanis?

Kiwanis is dedicated to serving the children around the world. Established in 1915, local clubs respond to the needs within their communities and the international organization takes on large-scale challenges, such as eliminating disease and poverty. Globally, there are nearly 600,000 Kiwanians who devote more than 19 million hours to service.

What is the Kiwanis Peninsula Seafood Festival?

The Kiwanis Peninsula Seafood Festival is a scrumptious all-inclusive outdoor Seafood & BBQ fundraiser of the Kiwanis Clubs of Division 13 of the Capital District of Kiwanis International. You’ll want to join us; the Festival is rain or shine.* Guests may bring their lawn chairs; relax and dine in or take out a delicious meal will enjoying the live music of SlapNation.

What is the Cost?

Tickets are a $45.00 donation in advance; $55.00 the day of the event.

Scrumptious Fried Fish Fillets, Plump Bay Spiced Steamed Shrimp, Southern Style Shrimp-N-Grits, Fried Oysters, Delicious Hand Shucked Raw Oysters, Sautéed Scallops w/Stir Fried Vegetables, Hatteras Clam Chowder, Pulled Pork Barbecue, Mini Crab Cakes, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, Low Country Dirty Rice, Roasted Vegetable Medley, Hushpuppies & Assorted Homemade Desserts; all catered by Black Pelican of Chesapeake.

Yes! Beer, wine, iced tea, and water are included. ID required at entrance for adult beverages.

Where does the Money go?

Kiwanis Shag & Seafood Festival benefits over 255 children’s programs of the Kiwanis Clubs of Carrollton, City Center, Denbigh, Downtown Hampton, Greater Hilton, Mercury 64, Old Point Comfort, Peninsula at Oyster Point, Smithfield, plus the Kiwanis Southeast Region Fishing Clinic. 

What happens if it Rains?

We party on rain or shine! As long as there isn’t a hurricane, the event can be moved indoors.

 

 

How does this Event Happen?

The Kiwanis Shag & Seafood Festival planning, preparation and day of activities are facilitated entirely by a core team of dedicated volunteers who spend days, nights and weekends making sure this event happens and it happens right!
